FAQs

How do I know if I need counselling?

There isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ approach when it comes to counselling. Sometimes it can help to talk to a licensed psychotherapist who can provide an objective perspective on what you are struggling with. Counselling is like using a magnifying glass, it can be exhausting but one is able to see things he/she would not have normally seen. In a nutshell, counselling may be helpful to you if you find that the strategies you are using to deal with a particular issue are not helping the same as they used to.

If I’m taking medication, do I need counselling?

We live in a society where we do not like to wait for results. We want to see results now. On a neurological level for some individuals, medication is a must as it helps adjust brain’s neurological pathways. On an emotional level, taking medication does provide an easy answer for how to work with issues that come up in life. For example, loss of job, death of a loved one, getting into a car accident and so forth. But it is best known that medication works best when it is paired with counselling.
